Shoppers are constantly searching for the best deal, especially through the Christmas and back to school period. Searches for discount codes have increased by over 50% since this time last year. To drive your sales during this busy period, Google is making it easy for you to showcase your promotions and customise your seasonal promotions.
Showcase Your Products
When shoppers are on the Shopping tab they will now be prompted with a new “Deals related to your search” which will provide the most competitive deals based on discount. By adding your products in Google merchant centre, eligible products will be included in the new deals.
Helping People Find the Best Deals
Products that are on sale will now appear in the shopping tab with the deals badge for deal seeking customers over this busy shopping period. This will appear in customers feed when the deals menu has been selected or they are searching for terms such as ‘deals’ or ‘Black Friday’. Products that have the badge will be automatically included and will be highlighted based on there discount.
This is paired with the “deals related to your search” and deals carousal on Google search which was announced in July. Google has significantly enhanced consumers ability to find what they are looking for whilst prioritising businesses to achieve their sale goals.
How Can I Measure the Performance of My Deals?
In the lead up to the Christmas period you can find out which of your products qualify for the deals badge by looking at the products tab in merchant centre.
Through this you can identify the data impressions, clicks and click-through rate of your sale products. You can further segment this data to analyse the key information including brand, category, product and promotion. This information will allow you to plan your product assortment and sales throughout this busy shopping period.
